Review: Assassin’s Creed 2 [PS3]

January 31, 2010 1 comment

Intro
I was skeptical to play this game at first. I thought “whoopty freakin’ doo!”. The first Assassin’s Creed interested me, but I heard it was SO repetitive. So when the second game came about, I shrugged. But I rented it, due to all the hype, and figured I owed it a fair shot. Boy was I wrong.

Review: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories [PSP]

January 31, 2010 Leave a comment

Intro
This is a reimagining of the original Silent Hill. Beside a few similarities (You being Harry, your daughter Cheryl, and the town Silent Hill), the game’s plot is drastically different. I will go on record and say I have only played a little bit of the original and wasn’t a huge fan, so I won’t be able to compare it, and I can’t give an opinion as a fan of the series. I have played a little of all of them, though. In short, you are searching for your daughter in the town of Silent Hill. No spoilers here!

Thoughts: Apple iPad

Since everyone is talking about it, here’s my thoughts on the Apple iPad, all summed up in 1,000 words or less. Before I get to into it, let me say I am a HUGE geek when it comes to gadgets. Gadgets are fascinating to me. And when a new gadget comes out, I want it. Well, the Apple iPad is a gadget, and below, I’ve split up everything into catergories.

Impressions: MAG Beta

[Editors note: This was typed on January 20, 2010]

I’ve typed this up once, with a post date of 01/26/2010, however, it got lost in shuffle. So here we go again.

When MAG was announced at 2008’s E3, I was pretty excited. I’ve always been an FPS guy. And the thought of a tactical, 256-player online-only shooter made me drool just a little. Fast forward to April of 2009. I had already spent quite a few hours playing Call of Duty: World at War on my friends PS3, but now I had a PS3, and got SOCOM: Confrontation with it. As everyone knows that game ruined my view on multiplayer games, which is a tragedy. But at 2009’s E3, seeing MAG, I was so pumped after watching their presentation. I thought, “Finally, a game to drag me away from SOCOM.” Fast forward again to (I think) PAX 2009. People were giving beta codes away like crazy. I got my hands on one.

A Gamers War

January 25, 2010 1 comment

Let me give it to you straight, people. We, as gamers, fight more than mankind itself. I challenge you to take two steps, and observe “our kind”. Don’t speak, don’t correct someone, don’t judge, just listen and watch two gamers argue over something as simple as an opinion. It’s sad, isn’t it?

Final Fantasy VII Remake Still a no go.. “for time being.”

January 24, 2010 1 comment

Sadly, is this really news? I, for one, want a remake of the beloved FF7 just as much as the next, but I’ve put it on the backburner. “For the time being”, anyhow.

Editorial: Duke Nukem For(n)ever

Duke Nukem was a pretty gosh darn popular game back in it’s day. I remember playing as a teenager, and thinking “OMG WOWZ THERES B00BZ!!!”. There was swearing, corny catchphrases, nudity, and everything else an adolescent wants to see in a video game. So when the developers, 3D Realms, spent the last 10+ years making it, I believe they missed a big cash cow.
