Review: Doodle Farm [iOS]

Chicken + Worm = Nothing. 😦

Doodle God was my introduction to this type of game. It made me feel smart, and scratched the creative side of my brain. You started with just a few elements, like Water and Fire, and began creating some very interesting things, and it all made sense as you did. So many times I would beam proudly at my created tile and immediately began thinking of things I could make by combining it with something else. Enter Doodle Farm.

Rocky: The Vide- wait.. no.. Fight Night Champion review below!!

Fight Night Champions was one of those games I found out about by browsing upcoming games in Gamefly. I hadn’t heard much about it since I added it to my que late last year, but hey, it’s a Fight Night game; a series I have loved due to my passion for creating a monster-of-a-boxer, putting the settings on Easy, and just beating the snot out of everything in my path. You can bet I was excited to play a new one. It’s going to be a step up from the last one, right?

Review: Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds [PS3]

Cheesy caption fail....

I’m going to preface this review by pointing out that I am by no means a hardcore fighting game fan. I can’t tell you how to do an advanced guard. I don’t know how to pull off hyper combos in normal gameplay. I play with “Simple” controls. Sure, I can pull off a few fancy moves in Street Fighter games, but when it comes down to it, I button mash, and hope for the best.

Burn, Zombies, Bu- erm.. wrong game??

I had heard about this game. “A top down shooter by the guys that made Super Stardust HD, with zombies.” How the hell do you screw that up, I thought? I heard the game was great from the guys on IGN’s Podcast Beyond, it was on sale because it won best PSN exclusive, so I thought “Why not?” I played the game nearly every night for a month afterwards. Why? Read on.

Unleash the KRAKEN!

I was initially startled that this game was coming out so soon after Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and figured it would get delayed until next fall. But low-and-behold, I have put quite a few hours into the game, and figure its ready to have some words unleashed about it. This is the sim-racing side of Need for Speed, and fans of arcade racers shouldn’t expect to like it. Luckily, I am a sim-racing fan, and this is a great sequel to a promising game that deserved another chance.

Review: Homefront [PS3]

Homefront isn't where the heart is, either..

I was so stoked for this game. A near-future story of America that has been taken over by Korea? Yes plz! Multiplayer that resembled most hit shooters, but a unique “Battle Commander” game mode? Oh boy, I’m excited. And to top it all off, trophies (or achievements for those XBots out there) that awarded you for playing multiplayer? Yeah, I was pretty stoked alright. But, Kaos Studios decided to drop a bomb on my home front, instead of a hit game.

Review: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (PSN)

Look at all the colors!! D:

Retro games have made their comeback. I think we can all agree on that fact. Taking a game that came out two decades ago or longer, throwing a fresh coat of paint, adding a few twists. It’s a formula that is becoming tried and true. Older gamers like myself gobble them up for nostalgia, and kids get a chance to experience the games that planted the seeds for what they play today. It’s a win-win situation, especially when the champion of retro is involved.
